Funny fact for a serious video is that it’s made of bonus footage I shot while doing my hired job of still Photography for the poster and it’s ended up being one of my favorite work samples to show people cause it’s short, to the point, and to me who understands the context – quite moving. I’m glad it ended up being useful in promotion alongside the work done by my favorite Ionian channel and It’s always an honor to work for the local and internationally acclaimed theater group Zymosis. Directed by the talented, Pan like farmer – Kostantis Mouzakis, this play was put on as part of official festivities for the 200 year anniversary from Greek independence. The video was filmed on top of mount Skopos, one of the island’s holiest sites. The play itself took place at the hilltop location (Lofos Strani) where our national anthem was written as Dionisios Solomos looked across to the mainland, towards the sounds of cannon firing. The ending phrase in the video “My eyes did not see a more glorious place than this field (small battlefield)” is a verse from the beginning of the work of our national poet “Free besieged.” which he wrote inspired by the epic battle of Messolongi.

Η πρώτη μας ταινία μικρού μήκος ήρθε και έδεσε με το ποίημα του Τ.Σ. Έλιοτ: Το ερωτικό τραγούδι του Τζέι Άλφρεντ Προύφροκ. Τα γυρίσματα είχαν ξεκινήσει συνθέτωντας τις εμπειρίες των τελευταίων χρόνων, το περιβάλλον, το μέλλον, και εμείς χορεύαμε σαν μαζοχικές μαριονέτες. Το ποίημα δεν ξέραμε ότι θα το χρησιμοποιήσουμε αλλά κύλησε ο τέντζερης και βρήκε το καπάκι που λέμε… – G
